Membership Process

We believe it is the Lord’s design for Christians to live life together as members of local churches. We understand church membership to be essential to growing in the faith and in making it home to heaven.

Membership Class

All prospective members must attend our Meaningful Membership class. The curriculum is composed of four one-hour sessions entitled:

  • Statement of Faith
  • Church Covenant
  • Why Join a Church?
  • Living as a Church

Membership Interview

In a forty-five minute interview, a prospective member meets with an elder to give basic biographical information and to recount the saving work of God in his or her life. He or she would then sign the statement of faith and church covenant, at which point, the prospective member’s application is passed on to the elders.

Elder Recommendation

At a regularly scheduled elders’ meeting, the elder who interviewed the prospective member will review his or her application with the other elders. Upon collective approval by the elders, they would then recommend the candidate to the congregation for affirmation.

Congregational Affirmation

At our members’ meetings, which take place every other month, the elder who interviewed the prospective member will present that applicant’s testimony to the congregation. Questions are fielded by the elder(s) about the applicant, and a vote is taken. At this point, with a majority secured, the applicant is admitted into membership.
