Justin was born in Newport News, VA, but grew up in Asheville, NC. He graduated from T. C. Roberson High School in 2001 and went on to Furman University, where he got a B.A. in Business Administration and played football for four years. Though he had been a Christian from a fairly young age, the Lord brought Justin to a fresh appreciation and understanding of his gospel and his word beginning in 2007. In 2011, Justin moved to Washington, D. C. to begin the pastoral internship program at Capitol Hill Baptist Church (CHBC). During that time, he met his wife, Michelle. They were married in December of 2012. He began studies at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012 and continues to pursue the Master of Divinity degree. In 2013, Justin took a position as Mark Dever’s pastoral assistant at CHBC and served in that capacity until he and his family moved back to the Asheville area. Justin has served as lead pastor of Covenant Baptist Church since it was constituted in August 2015. He and Michelle have four children.
Justin is also a cohost of Theocast, a reformed podcast.
Justin enjoys all things sports-related, reading, music, CrossFit, and the Asheville restaurant scene.
McKenzie was born and raised in the small town of Kershaw, South Carolina and was saved as a young teenager. From that point forward, he noticed a desire to learn and grow in the things of God and an interest in the ministry. After high school, he attended the University of South Carolina Lancaster where he played soccer for one year. In 2017, he began attending Fruitland Baptist Bible college where he earned an A.A. in Religious Studies and Christian Ministry—this is what brought him to the Asheville area and then to CBC. Shortly after this, in July of 2019, he married his wife, Abby. He is currently continuing his education online at Spurgeon College while he serves on staff here at CBC as a Pastoral Assistant.
McKenzie is into hanging with friends, South Carolina Gamecocks football, and running. He and Abby look forward to growing their hiking and tent camping experience.
Rob was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Argentina, South America, until age 17. He was saved as a teenager and grew up in a healthy church environment where he learned the importance of the body of Christ in the life of a believer. After finishing high school, he came to South Carolina to go to college where he earned a B.S. in Business Management from North Greenville University. During this time, he met his wife Corrie. Rob and Corrie moved to Fort Worth, TX, to pursue a career opportunity. Their two children were born while in Texas. In 2014, Rob’s job moved their family to the Asheville area, where they started attending CBC in 2017.
Rob enjoys hanging out with people, good conversations, fishing, and everything music related.
Jason grew up in a Christian home with parents who love the Lord. Due to his dad’s job, his family moved numerous times during his childhood. Eventually, they ended up in Greenville, SC, which led to Jason going to Clemson University for undergrad. Most importantly, he met his beautiful wife Jennifer at Clemson.
Jason went on to serve as an Infantry Officer with the Army before pursuing medical school; afterward, he remained on active duty as an Emergency Medicine Physician.
While in the military, Jason served primarily in the Special Operations Community, both stateside and abroad. During that season, he was privileged to minister as an elder in their local church for four years.
Jason and Jennifer moved back to the Asheville area to be close to family and friends who, in the Lord’s providence, are also a part of CBC. They have four children.
As a family, they enjoy Clemson football, anything that involves swimming, s’mores, and time together with friends and each other.
Corrie was born and raised as a missionary kid in Senegal, West Africa. Graced with parents who taught her the gospel from infancy, she trusted Christ as a young child, and grew up with a heart for the things and the people of God.
At age 17, she returned to the United States to graduate high school and attend college. During this time, she met her husband, Rob at their local church in Greenville, SC. They were married in January 2009; shortly thereafter, Rob’s job took them to Fort Worth, TX. While in Texas, they welcomed their two children before returning to the East Coast and settling near Asheville, NC.
Corrie and her family have been a part of CBC since 2017.
She enjoys her morning coffee, cooking and eating good food, reading and writing, and time with her family in Christ.
